From Weary to Strong

I was weary and heavy-eyed,
My spirit dull, my heart denied,
The strength to lift me from my bed,
And face the day that lay ahead.

But then I heard a gentle call,
A voice that stirred me from my sprawl,
It whispered of a brighter sky,
And urged me to arise and try.

And so I slowly found my feet,
And stepped outside to feel the heat,
Of a sun that burned away my fear,
And filled my soul with hope and cheer.

For though I’d been weighed down by doubt,
And though my thoughts had been without
The energy to break away,
I found the courage to start today.

And now I stand with head held high,
A fire kindled in my eye,
No longer lost in lethargy,
But filled with a new energy.

For I have risen from my rest,
And put my fears and doubts to rest,
I am alive, and I am strong,
And ready to take on the day’s long.
